Shaqodoon is a Somali word for “jobseekers”. The NGO prepares and links ‘Shaqodoon’ with the local business community, other potential employers and over and above encourages the youth to inculcate an entrepreneurial culture through entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs and use of innovative technologies. In addition, Shaqodoon has expanded its profile to work in technology for accountability, development, civic education, democracy and conflict resolutions using SMS and web based technologies in different methodologies.

Shaqodoon is a Somali word for “jobseekers”. The NGO prepares and links ‘Shaqodoon’ with the local business community, other potential employers and over and above encourages the youth to inculcate an entrepreneurial culture.
Shaqodoon utilizes innovative cell phone and web-based technologies to effect communicate between those offering career opportunities and youth looking for work. In addition, we develop custom SMS and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) enabled platforms for international companies and organizations operating in Somalia/land to allow them to communicate effectively with their beneficiaries through regular feedback, promote accountability and transparency, and get market information among others.
Shaqodoon Organization is seeking experienced, passionate, hardworking, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Business Development Officer to plan, organize and initiate employment and business development support services for Shaqodoon clients including youth job seekers, entrepreneurs, business associations and other individuals or groups accessing Shaqodoon’s programs/services in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
The Business Development Officer (BDO) will be responsible for the delivery of comprehensive entrepreneurship, work readiness, job placement and business development services under Shaqodoon’s “One Stop Shop Program”. The BDO will be tasked with preparing youth entrepreneurs and jobseekers to variety of effective methodologies developed by the organization and partners which include but not limited to, comprehensive Build Your Business (BYB), Visa Financial literacy, Work readiness, interactive Audio instruction training programs, organizing of outreach campaigns, matching making events, development of a business plan, mentorship and continuous business development support, job placement for entrepreneurs and job seekers.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for planning, organizing and delivering work readiness skills and entrepreneurship training courses.
Seek funding and employment opportunities for youth jobseeker and entrepreneurs after training and support services.
Build strong partnership with private sector companies in Hargeisa and other parts of Somaliland to place with you in internships and jobs.
Further enhance ad develop learning and training materials that reflect current market demands and skills needs of employers, as well as the diverse learning styles and needs of the trainees.
Conduct regular market mini market research utilizing relevant technologies on current and future marketable skills.
Organize mentors and emerging entrepreneurs matching making events, workshops and facilitate networking events.
Develop necessary forms and documentations required to evaluate beneficiaries during the trainings to ensure their eligibility for employment and financing opportunities.
Conduct regular outreach through business plan competitions, talk shows, debates, TV and Radio programs.
Oversee and manage the Info Match Job Platform, post-employment and training opportunities for youth job seekers and entrepreneurs.
Provide technical capacity building and Business Development Services (BDS) to youth entrepreneurs to develop their skills and knowledge through career development, one-to-one support sessions, business plan development, and ongoing business development support.
Monitor and report on activities on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and provide relevant management information.
Actively seek feedback from clients and maintain high quality standards and client satisfaction.
Assist the Program Specialist and program teams in designing and delivering program interventions in the field of entrepreneurship and enterprise skills.
Collaborate with other institutions working in the eco-system.
Perform other tasks as required and directed by the line managers
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Degree, preferably Master degree in Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, or related field.
Minimum three (3) years experience in enterprise development, entrepreneurship and soft skills training.
Current technical skills and knowledge relevant to entrepreneurship and Soft skills Training
Resourceful and well-developed presentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in English and Somali.
Strong working relationships with local business community and other stakeholders.
Proficiency in computer applications such as MS packages, MS Word and Excel.
